They have been with me for the last 52days :) They were so tiny then, look at them now, all grown up so much and ready to find their forever homes. Here's a little bit about them, they are about 1 month 2 weeks old
Hi, I'm the eldest of all. Initially I was mistaken for a male kitty. I'm quite reserved, quiet, very calculative, love cuddles and love to snuggle with my foster mom in her bed. I make a very good lappy kitty. I watch my diet, I eat just right and never over indulge myself unlike Dewey and Daisy. Although I'm quite reserved, I'm always up for a good fight with my brother and sister and I love my playtime. I still suckle on my brother and sisters when I get too sleepy.I am a master litter tray user.
Hi, I'm Dewey, the only thorn among the roses:) I love to play, more than my big sis Oprah. I love my food way too much so you better feed me 4 times a day. I'm very vocal but only when I'm hungry. I have this lovely ginger spots on my entire body and stripes around my front and back legs, which my foster mom says I remind her of a Leopard. When I get too sleepy or tired, I would like a pat and a tummy rub. I love snuggling up with my big sis and little is under the sheet.I love my freedom, so pls don't lock me up in the cage or carrier too long, I no likey! I am a master litter tray user.Oh, btw, did i mention that I love Mangoes?
What can I say about me? I'm the weakest and tiniest among the rest. I am way too playful compared to Oprah and Dewey :) I'm feisty, love my food but not as much as Dewey. he's a big eater. I have this never ending energy running through my body, could go and on running around everywhere chasing my imaginary birds and Butterflies sometimes Laser beams. My favourite toy is your toes under the sheet at night...nothing can beat that. I love my cat trees too.My foster mom says, I could beat Usain Bolt when it comes to sprinting and people should take wall climbing lessons from me. I am very close to my big sis Oprah and of-course my big bro Dewey. I am a master litter tray user.

Today marks exactly 1 month since we started using a "Eco Friendly" wood chips cat litter. Price wise it's really affordable. I mean for a multi-cat household, this cat litter is not really a good option but for single and 3 cats below household ,it will work well. Besides, the litter is toilet flushable (as what the manufacturer claims).
Oprah,Dewey and Daisy (we call them ODD Clan in short) loved it, but at times the wood chips with the sharp edges get stuck between their paws. I was worried if they pierce into their flesh so I changed theirs to Oko Plus while the bigger ones are on wood based litter. As rest of the clan, they didn't really mind the change of litter, all they need is a place where they can do their "business" and be able to "cover it up" but at times, I do notice they don't use it after 3rd or 4th day even I scooped their waste. Incase if the litter tray is a little dirty or full of overdone business, they wait till I clean them..How nice!
So if you ask me if I would convert my household to Magic Litter since its Eco Friendly? Well, not really if the litter emanates terrible smell after 3rd day and it collects the urine at the bottom of the tray. I was then advised by the "manufacturer" to layer the bottom tray with litter so it can absorb the urine. But doing that means the wood-chips cant be flushed in the toilet.
Here's my experience with Eco Friendly Magic Litter
Lighter weight (I buy in bulks so I could easily carry 10 or more bags at one go without feeling like I'm carrying a mountain :P)
Eco friendly ofcourse (Btw they are from the recycled wood)
The downside or the improvement I would like to see is
Make it more at reasonable price as it is now.
Make the chips a bit more finer or shaved so it doesn't have sharper edges which can be dangerous to small kittens paws or even adults.
Toilet flushable? (I need to question this. My toilet got clogged for a few times. I was advised it has to be done gradually (ie: throw little by little into the toilet) My thought, woodchips are solid and doesn't disintegrate in the water but can be carried away with the water pressure. So, the chances are high to get your toilet clogged even if it was done gradually. Am I right to say that?
The Probiotic infused in the chiplets gives out kind of fermented smell after 3 days even the waste is scooped out. Don't know how to combat that if that were to be improved.
The chiplets are slightly bigger which when I scoop even the clean chips gets stuck with the waste, so we are loosing the good ones there. Perhaps it can be slighly smaller so its easier to scoop.
Doesn't really absorb the urine well, unless I use clay litter as the base at the bottom of the tray but when I wanted to flush, I had to wash them to separate the clay before flushing it.Time consuming.
Works well with hooded litter box but for a tray, sometimes it can be easily tipped over with the contents strewn everywhere, as I mentioned above, the chiplets are really light weight unlike the litter sand.
A bag maybe be cheaper than other Eco friendly litter products out there in the market, but in the long run, it comes to the same amount that I would be spending on it.
I was told the litter last for 2 weeks, but in my own experience I have to change the entire litter every 5 days once (and I have 8 litter trays for my brood at home)
So, if you are an owner of cat(s) and looking to buy an Eco Friendly wood based cat litter, that is toilet flushable? (I doubt it's toilet flushable although the company claims it is), check out Magic Litter. When I bought it a month ago it was priced at RM16.90/bag but the price have gone down RM2/bag in such short period?. Best is give a call, or get yourself a bag and give it a try. Nothing to loose.
As for my household, I'm really happy with Oko Plus, which is again toilet flushable without a question and Eco Friendly :)
We, (regardless the resident cats, the fostered cats or some of us who came for boarding) at Furry Pies witness plenty and have plenty of stories to tell. Be it about the Guests cats, their owners and those who seeks our help then later go on to say not really positive things about us. We only care what we are doing. We know we did our best and we still doing our best.
Most of us in fact all of us are raised since young, as young as 10 days old. Mind you, all of us are rescued cats/kittens left on the streets. When we came to Furry Pies, to her new home, everything was different to us. We had a balcony that looks right to a big jungle..scary but never once we wanted to jump out of the window, or the grill or the main entrance door. Even the cats that were came to board as a Guest, never felt or had the urge to jump off the balcony. Everyone had their own freedom to move and they were well cared for. The first step we go through at Furry Pies when we arrive is that, we get a thorough medical check up, de-flea and get de-wormed. 2 weeks after our first visit, we will then get our 1st vaccination shot, followed by the rest of the shots following month respectively. When we reach 5 to 6 months of age, we then seek our vets advice to get neutered/spayed. None of us has to be caged, locked or my mom has to put up a huge struggle with us, ended up with bleeding hands caused by our claws that has never been tipped prior to our vet visits ;) That's because we were raised by her since we were rescued and we were raised to be household pets :) I believe this goes to most of the rescued cats/kittens out there too.
We do get unusual guests like that has never been vaccinated not neutered but claimed to be someone's pets and been a household cat that were almost 7 months of age. The most interesting part is when our home, and my mom get blamed for their mistakes. That is one of the reason we ALWAYS ask the owners who wants to send their pets to Furry Pies Homestay to visit us first. But some due to "personal reasons" never really pay a visit then later on go on to say negative things. But we are alright with that, because if at all the pets could talk as you humans do, i am pretty sure your pet will tell you what you have been telling about us out there is utterly rubbish :) We see, digest and we keep quiet. We know the truth and that's what matters. Good luck in finding homes for PPL as they were part of our clan for sometime. We know the truth and GOD was watching when they were treated well and not unlike it was told otherwise out there.
The frequent question that most pet owners ask themselves is if our pets get enough to eat and most importantly if they love us. I am too like you, had the same doubts in my mind. Our pets are the biggest puzzles we could ever solve, especially cats. Dogs are easier to understand. perhaps that's why dogs are "men's" best-friend and cats are women's best-friend? :) can't answer that. Anyway, I came across this interesting article when faith's rescuer posted on my Facebook wall.I thought I would share them with you my fellow Furry Pies.....
In the English language, we have just one word to describe the different types of love. The ancient Greeks were a bit smarter in this respect;they used different words to describe the love fora spouse, a sibling, a parent or a friend.
You have to wonder which word they used todescribe the love between pets and people. We know how we feel towards our pets, but do they experience the same emotions toward us? Or isthe bond simply a mixture of instinct, dependence and social role? Continue
Weekly once I make it a point I steam either chicken or Fish for my cats (both the resident cats and the guests came for boarding) usually it will be Sardine fish or Kembung, but lately it's been Sardine since Kembung doesn't seems to be appealing to my cats. From the minute I start to clean the fish till I started de-bone them, the entire household will be very noisy and everyone will be jumping around in joy :) Pretty funny to watch them.
Cleaned and ready to be steamed
Finding the perfect spots to sniff the fish smell
The perfect Gues ever Boboy
"I smell something very fishy somewhere"
The result: after de-bone
Makan time, gourmet lunch with a view at no cost
Must be his first time having a fish. This is Bobby a guest that came for a stay.
